SUCI / THE ART OF MAKING
A flower.
A thousand
small decisions.
Where to press. How far to curve.
When a petal has found its place.

PRACTISED HANDS / DEHUA
The judgement
behind the petal.
Huang and Chen. Two artisans, each with more than a decade devoted to the craft.
Watch a flower take shape: the maker turns it in hand, presses an edge and places another petal. Each gesture changes the whole.
It is this attention that draws us to hand-shaped porcelain — the meeting of a material and the person who knows how to work it.

From Dehua,
with a different story.
Dehua, in China's Fujian province, has a long history of porcelain making. Its historic kilns are part of the UNESCO-listed Quanzhou heritage site, a record of the city's connections with the wider world.
For SUCI, this history becomes personal in the work of the hands. Our focus is the hand-shaped porcelain flower — a small object through which to discover a place and its craft.

SUCI / 素瓷
Character lives
in the details.
Look at the edge of a petal. The curve of a fold. The shadows between the layers. A flower offers something different as you move around it.
素瓷 — SUCI — evokes unadorned porcelain. Our name reflects a simple intention: to leave room for the material, the maker’s touch, and your own connection with a piece.
